These individuals and organizations will receive the Governor's Awards at a celebration on November 18 at 6:30 p.m. at The Henry Ford in Dearborn. All nominations for the ArtServe Michigan Governor's Awards for Arts & Culture undergo a rigorous selection process. An independent selection panel of reviewers from around Michigan reviews the nominations.

Created during Governor Blanchard's administration, the Governor's Awards for Arts & Culture were established in 1985 to increase the recognition of artists, educators, arts & cultural organizations, businesses and civic leaders in Michigan. The awards create awareness of arts and culture in Michigan, recognize the quality and performance achievements of Michigan artists, educators, arts & cultural organizations, and publicize successful achievement in the arts.

Major sponsors of the ArtServe Michigan Governor's Awards for Arts & Culture are:

 · General Motors sponsor of the International Achievement Award
