HISTORY
Since its beginning in 1985, the Governor's Awards for Arts & Culture have
recognized individuals and organizations that have been vital to the growth
and development of Michigan's cultural resources. The ArtServe Michigan
Governor's Awards for Arts & Culture evolved from the Concerned Citizens for
the Arts in Michigan Governor's Arts Awards. Concerned Citizens for the
Arts in Michigan was a non-profit arts advocacy organization, which merged
with three other arts organizations (Arts Foundation of Michigan, Business
Volunteers for the Arts and Michigan Alliance for Arts Education) to form
ArtServe Michigan.
