ArtServe's New Education Publication:

Why should educators, parents, business leaders and others care about arts education? There is plenty of evidence to show that arts make a serious difference in the academic and social development of our young people.

MAKING THE CASE: THE ARTS AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT is a new ArtServe Michigan publication that reviews the latest research on arts education. It outlines the evidence showing the impact and value of arts education in the areas of cognitive development, academic achievement, workplace readiness skills, cross cultural understanding and channeling at-risk students into productive pursuits.

What can you do to further the cause of arts education in Michigan schools?  Click here to read the paper online or call Donna Edwards, Director, Education Initiatives, at 248.557.8288 x13 to request a copy. Then, share it with educators, business leaders and lawmakers in your area. Enclose a personal note telling them why you believe arts education is important.

Michigan Artist Registry Launched: ArtServe Michigan is issuing a statewide call to artists to stand up and be counted! In order to reach Michigan artists with calls for entry and other professional opportunities, ArtServe has created a free online registry on its website. Registration is free; mail registration is also available. Call Artist Services Director Kim Dabbs at 248.557.8288 x14 for details.
