WELCOME TO ARTSERVE MICHIGAN

On May 1,1997 four organizations -- Arts Foundation of Michigan, Business Volunteers for the Arts, Concerned Citizens for the Arts in Michigan and Michigan Alliance for Arts Education -- joined to become ArtServe Michigan.

This historic merger unifies 32 combined years of arts leadership into a single agency with a new synergy and greatly enhanced services to arts and culture throughout Michigan.

At its highest level of operation, ArtServe Michigan brings together citizens whose legitimate differences can freely coexist within the celebration of the spirit. These aims are captured in ArtServe Michigan's mission statement:

ArtServe Michigan supports and advocates for the arts and cultural education in the state of Michigan. ArtServe Michigan accomplishes its mission by working with artists, educators, cultural organizations, businesses, volunteers and others through statewide programs, services and a variety of collaborative efforts.
As ArtServe Michigan contributes to a new chapter in Michigan's cultural history some basic organizational goals are prominent:
  • To serve as the premier advocate for arts and arts education in Michigan
  • To foster unprecedented unity within the state's cultural community
  • To educate the public about the importance of the cultural arts and education
  • To encourage participation and support for arts and culture from the private sector, the public sector and the community at large
  • To provide direct support services for arts education, creative artists, cultural organizations and communities involved in cultural activities
  • To employ the latest technological tools to communicate with artists and facilitate involvement in the cultural community in Michigan
