Lynn Galbreath
Lynn Galbreath created a series of eleven paintings on wood and one drawing on paper using color to explore compositional dissonance and harmony. The works were all exhibited at the Oasis Gallery, Marquette. The artist spent a week in Marquette and lectured about her work at the Oasis Gallery. A Japanese delegation from Marquettes sister city visited the exhibit and shared their ideas and insights about the work. The community service component comprised of an eight session workshop at Schwarzkoff Elementary School. Each of the eight morning sessions focused on a different aspect of the creative process: art history, composition, board preparation, drawing techniques, color mixing, paint application techniques and exhibition preparation. Each student participating finished one 16"x 24" drawing and one painting. The artist also led a field trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts for the students. The students exhibited their works at Schwarzkoff Elementary School. The entire school community attended the event.
